Priority Issues

The committee agreed that FDA Preemption, Physician Payment Disclosure, and Comparative Effectiveness are top priority issues followed by orthopedic registries and the 510(k) process.  Other issues, such as price transparency, will be closely monitored. 

Hill Visits with Delegation

The committee agreed to schedule Hill visits with key Members of the delegation with goals for completion by the end of June. 

Meet & Greet

The committee will work to schedule a “Meet & Greet” with Rep. Andre Carson.

Fundraisers

The committee agreed to organize medical device industry fundraisers (in conjunction with AdvaMed where appropriate) for several members. 

In-District Meetings

The committee will work to organize several in-district meetings with Representatives where appropriate. 

Washington, D.C. Reception/Fly-In

 The committee agreed to work on a possible May reception for all the members of the Indiana delegation and top staff.  IMDMC members would be asked to share the expenses. Individual Hill visits could be coordinated for members flying in to DC for the reception.   It was also suggested that IMDMC might want to broaden the reception to include other Indiana health care companies. 

Miscellaneous

Members were urged to participate in Indiana Forum events.  Members also suggested that we update the statistics on the medical device industry in Indiana.

Next Meeting

The committee agreed to keep in touch via email and, when necessary, schedule another meeting - ;early in the second quarter of the year as the 2009 Agenda evolves.
